The NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system is ingeniously designed with two distinctive stages: a high-temperature stage utilizing NH3 as the refrigerant, and a low-temperature stage employing CO2. In this intricate system, the evaporation of refrigerant NH3 in the high-temperature stage is pivotal for condensing the CO2 refrigerant gas emanating from the low-temperature stage. This seamless transition is facilitated by a sophisticated condensation evaporator, which intricately connects the high and low-temperature levels, serving dual functions as both the condenser of the low-temperature level and the evaporator of the high-temperature level.

The thermal energy is masterfully transferred to the CO2 refrigerant via the end evaporator, and the absorbed heat is then efficiently relayed to the NH3 refrigerant in the high-temperature stage through the condensing evaporator. This high-temperature NH3 refrigerant subsequently disperses the heat to the high-temperature condenser, which releases it into the surrounding environment via a cooling medium. The condensed CO2 within the condensing evaporator advances to the CO2 reservoir, and thereafter, it travels through a series of components including a dryer filter and throttle valve, reaching the CO2 gas-liquid separator. From here, the liquid CO2 is propelled to the CO2 evaporator through a circulation pump, lacking additional end cooling devices like single freezers or chillers. Post-evaporation, the two-phase CO2 is directed back to the gas-liquid separator, and the gaseous CO2 is compressed by the compressor into the condensing evaporator. This meticulously planned cycle repeats itself, completing a full cascade refrigeration cycle.

NH3/CO2: Within this cascade refrigeration marvel, the high and low-temperature levels are distinct refrigeration systems each utilizing a singular refrigerant. The equipment is thoughtfully divided into two segments: the high-temperature NH3 refrigeration system mirrors a conventional system, incorporating crucial components such as refrigeration compressors, condensers, liquid storage, gas-liquid separators, and throttling devices. On the other hand, the low-temperature CO2 refrigeration segment comprises a CO2 compressor, condensing evaporator, reservoir, gas-liquid separator, filter dryer, pump, throttling device, evaporator, and expansion vessel, orchestrating an advanced refrigeration symphony.
The The CO2 gas-liquid separator is expertly designed to segregate CO2 gas droplets emerging from the evaporator in the CO2 compression refrigeration system, preventing wet strokes in the compressor. It ensures a stable liquid level when the pump operates and accommodates the liquid return from terminal equipment and pipelines when the pump ceases operation. If utilized as a CO2 reservoir during non-operation periods, its volume must accommodate the system's entire CO2 liquid capacity. Simultaneously, the auxiliary evaporator, strategically placed atop the gas-liquid separator, effectively prevents potential CO2 pressure surges post-shutdown.
