The NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system is an innovative fusion of two distinct stages: the high-temperature stage and the low-temperature stage. In this sophisticated setup, NH3 is employed as the refrigerant for the high-temperature stage, while CO2 takes the lead in the low-temperature stage. The brilliance of the system lies in the evaporation of refrigerant NH3 within the high-temperature stage, which effectively condenses the refrigerant gas CO2 emanating from the low-temperature stage. A state-of-the-art condensation evaporator seamlessly links these two stages, functioning dually as the condenser for the low-temperature stage and the evaporator for the high-temperature stage.
In this advanced system, heat load is efficiently transferred to the CO2 refrigerant via the end evaporator. The absorbed heat then transitions to the NH3 refrigerant through the pivotal condensing evaporator. This high-temperature refrigerant subsequently channels the heat to the high-temperature condenser, from which it is liberated into the environment by means of a cooling medium. The cycle continues as the condensed CO2 from the evaporator flows into the CO2 reservoir and journeys through the dryer filter and throttle valve to the CO2 gas-liquid separator. The liquid CO2 is expertly directed to the CO2 evaporator by the circulation pump. Post-evaporation, the two-phase CO2 returns to the gas-liquid separator, and gaseous CO2 is adeptly compressed back into the condensing evaporator. This cycle perpetuates to consummate the entire cascade refrigeration process.

Meanwhile, the low-temperature CO2 system distinguishes itself by incorporating a condensing evaporator, reservoir, gas-liquid separator, filter dryer, pump, throttling device, evaporator, and expansion vessel.
The CO2 Gas-Liquid Separator: An Essential Component in the CO2 compression refrigeration system, the CO2 gas-liquid separator plays a crucial role. It skillfully separates CO2 gas droplets from the evaporator, safeguarding the compressor from a wet stroke and ensuring stability in liquid levels during pump operation. Additionally, it stores returning liquid from end equipment and pipelines upon pump deactivation. If the separator doubles as a CO2 reservoir during inactivity, it must be capacious enough to accommodate the entire system's CO2 liquid. To counteract high CO2 pressure post-shutdown, an auxiliary evaporator is installed atop the separator. In the NH3/CO2 cascade system, the condensing evaporator serves dual roles: as the NH3 side's evaporator and the CO2 side's condenser, facilitating compound liquid evaporation and CO2 gas condensation.
