The NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system is an innovative two-tiered approach, consisting of a high temperature stage utilizing NH3 as the refrigerant, and a low temperature stage employing CO2 as the refrigerant. In this sophisticated system, the evaporation of NH3 in the high temperature stage effectively condenses CO2 gas discharged from the low temperature stage. These two stages are intricately connected by a condensation evaporator, serving as both the condenser for the low temperature stage and the evaporator for the high temperature stage, ensuring seamless operation and energy efficiency.
The heat load is expertly transferred to the CO2 refrigerant via the end evaporator. CO2 absorbs the heat, which is then transferred to the high-temperature NH3 refrigerant through the condensing evaporator. The high-temperature NH3 refrigerant subsequently disperses this heat to the environment via the high-temperature condenser and cooling medium. The condensed CO2 moves into the CO2 reservoir and then proceeds through the dryer filter and throttle valve to the CO2 gas-liquid separator. Driven by the CO2 circulation pump, the liquid CO2 reaches the CO2 evaporator. Post-evaporation, the CO2 transitions back into a gas-liquid separator. The gaseous CO2 is drawn by the compressor and compressed into the condensing evaporator. This dynamic cycle repeats to complete an efficient cascade refrigeration cycle, ensuring optimal cooling performance.
