The NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system is masterfully designed, comprising two distinct segments: the high-temperature stage and the low-temperature stage. The high-temperature stage utilizes NH3 as the refrigerant, while the low-temperature stage employs CO2. Ingeniously, the evaporation process of NH3 in the high-temperature system is harnessed to condense the CO2 gas emanating from the low-temperature system. A state-of-the-art condensation evaporator connects these two stages, acting as both a condenser for the low-temperature level and an evaporator for the high-temperature level, ensuring optimal thermal efficiency.
The heat load is seamlessly transferred to the CO2 refrigerant via the end evaporator. This absorbed heat is then impeccably conveyed to the high-temperature NH3 refrigerant through the sophisticated condensing evaporator. The NH3 refrigerant subsequently transfers this heat to the high-temperature condenser, releasing it into the environment using a cooling medium. The CO2, now condensed in the condensing evaporator, makes its way to the CO2 reservoir, subsequently passing through the dryer filter and throttle valve into the CO2 gas-liquid separator. Liquid CO2 efficiently circulates to the CO2 evaporator through the CO2 circulation pump (excluding terminal cooling devices like single freezers or chillers). Post-evaporation, the two-phase CO2 reverts to the gas-liquid separator, where gaseous CO2 is adeptly compressed into the condensing evaporator by the compressor, perpetuating the entire cycle of the cascade refrigeration process.
In the NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system, each temperature level operates as a distinct refrigeration system utilizing a single refrigerant. The high-temperature NH3 system mirrors conventional refrigeration setups, featuring not only a refrigeration compressor but also a condenser, liquid storage, gas-liquid separator, and throttling device. Meanwhile, the low-temperature CO2 refrigeration system includes a CO2 compressor, condensing evaporator, reservoir, gas-liquid separator, filter dryer, pump, throttling device, evaporator, and expansion vessel, each working in perfect harmony to deliver exceptional cooling performance.
The The CO2 gas-liquid separator is ingeniously used to filter out droplets of CO2 gas from the evaporator in the CO2 compression refrigeration system. This avoids the compressor's wet stroke, maintains a stable liquid level during the pump's operation, and accommodates the end equipment and pipeline liquid return when the pump ceases operation. When not active, the separator also functions as a CO2 reservoir, its volume designed to contain all system CO2 liquid. Additionally, an auxiliary evaporator is strategically placed atop the separator to prevent excessive CO2 pressure upon shutdown. Within the NH3/CO2 cascade system, the condensing evaporator serves as both the NH3 side evaporator and the CO2 side condenser, where compound liquid skilfully evaporates and absorbs heat, allowing carbon dioxide gas to condense into liquid form.
