The NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system is a marvel of engineering, beautifully combining two distinct stages - high and low temperature. At the high temperature stage, NH3 serves as the refrigerant, while CO2 takes the helm at the low temperature stage. The process is elegantly orchestrated as the evaporated NH3 in the high temperature stage condenses the CO2 gas emitted from the low temperature stage. A strategically designed condensation evaporator joins these two facets, functioning as a condenser for the low temperature level and an evaporator for the high temperature level, ensuring seamless integration and efficiency.
In this sophisticated system, the heat load is skillfully transferred to the CO2 refrigerant via the end evaporator. The absorbed heat by CO2 is then adeptly passed to the high-temperature NH3 refrigerant through the condensing evaporator. This high-temperature NH3 refrigerant expertly channels the heat to the high-temperature condenser, where it is gracefully released into the environment via a cooling medium. Post-condensation, CO2 is directed into a CO2 reservoir, before flowing through a dryer filter and throttle valve into a CO2 gas-liquid separator. The liquid CO2 is then efficiently pumped to the CO2 evaporator by the CO2 circulation pump. Completing its journey, the two-phase CO2 returns to the gas-liquid separator, where the gaseous CO2 is drawn in by the compressor, compressed, and returned to the condensing evaporator, perpetuating this harmonious cascade refrigeration cycle.
In the inventive NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system, the high and low temperature stages operate as separate refrigeration systems, each with a dedicated refrigerant. When used as a CO2 reservoir during downtime, it is designed to accommodate the entire system's CO2 liquid volume. Additionally, an auxiliary evaporator is strategically installed atop the gas-liquid separator to manage CO2 pressure post-shutdown. In the remarkable NH3/CO2 cascade system, the condensing evaporator serves dual purposes - as the NH3 side evaporator and the CO2 side condenser, where the compound liquid evaporates and absorbs heat within tubes, simultaneously condensing carbon dioxide gas into liquid within the shell, epitomizing efficiency and innovation.
