The NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system is a sophisticated synergy of two distinct temperature stages: the high-temperature stage utilizing NH3 as the refrigerant, and the low-temperature stage employing CO2. The brilliance of this design lies in the evaporation process of NH3 in the high-temperature system, which efficiently condenses the CO2 gas emitted from the low-temperature level. Bridging these two stages is the remarkable condensation evaporator, functioning as the condenser for the low temperature and the evaporator for the high temperature.
In this intricate system, heat load is expertly transferred to the CO2 refrigerant through the terminal evaporator. The absorbed heat by CO2 then seamlessly transitions to the high-temperature NH3 refrigerant via the condensing evaporator. Subsequently, the NH3 refrigerant relinquishes its heat to the high-temperature condenser, releasing it gracefully into the environment through a cooling medium. The CO2, now condensed in the condensing evaporator, finds its way into the CO2 reservoir before traveling through a dryer filter and throttle valve to the CO2 gas-liquid separator. Liquid CO2 is then propelled by a circulation pump to the CO2 evaporator. Post evaporation, the CO2 returns in a two-phase state to the gas-liquid separator, where the gaseous CO2 is compressed by the compressor into the condensing evaporator, perpetuating the entire cascade refrigeration cycle with elegance and precision.
