1. NH3/CO2: The Principles of Cascade Refrigeration System
The innovative NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system is ingeniously divided into two segments: the high-temperature stage utilizing NH3 as the refrigerant and the low-temperature stage employing CO2. In this sophisticated setup, NH3 evaporates in the high-temperature level to condense the CO2 gas expelled from the low-temperature level. A specialized condensation evaporator serves as the bridge between these stages, acting dually as the condenser for the CO2 stage and the evaporator for the NH3 stage, ensuring seamless interaction and enhanced efficiency.
Within this advanced system, the CO2 refrigerant efficiently absorbs heat through the end evaporator, transferring it to the high-temperature NH3 refrigerant via the condensing evaporator. The NH3 then disseminates this heat to the high-temperature condenser, releasing it into the environment with the help of a cooling medium. Post-condensation, CO2 enters the reservoir and proceeds through a dryer filter and throttle valve to the CO2 gas-liquid separator. The liquid CO2 is propelled by a circulation pump to the CO2 evaporator, and after evaporation, returns as two-phase CO2 to the gas-liquid separator. The gaseous CO2 is drawn into the compressor and compressed back to the condensing evaporator, perpetuating the entire cascade refrigeration cycle with precision.
In the NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system, the high and low temperature stages each utilize a single refrigerant, creating a dual-structured equipment composition. The high-temperature NH3 refrigeration system mirrors a conventional setup with additional components like a condenser, liquid storage, gas-liquid separator, and throttling device. Meanwhile, the low-temperature CO2 system boasts a CO2 compressor, condensing evaporator, reservoir, gas-liquid separator, filter dryer, pump, throttling device, evaporator, and expansion vessel, all integrated to maximize performance and reliability.
The The CO2 gas-liquid separator plays a critical role in segregating CO2 gas droplets from the evaporator in the compressor refrigeration system, preventing wet strokes in the compressor and stabilizing the liquid level during pump operation. When the pump halts, it collects any liquid returning from end equipment and pipelines. If utilized as a CO2 reservoir during downtime, its volume must accommodate the entire system's CO2 liquid. An auxiliary evaporator is crucially positioned atop the separator to avert excessive CO2 pressure post-shutdown. In the NH3/CO2 cascade system, the condensing evaporator functions dually as an NH3 side evaporator and a CO2 side condenser, where compound liquids evaporate and absorb heat internally, while CO2 gas condenses into a liquid externally.
