1. NH3/CO2: Understanding the Principle of Cascade Refrigeration System
The NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system is ingeniously divided into two stages: the high temperature stage, utilizing NH3 as the refrigerant, and the low temperature stage, employing CO2. The evaporation of NH3 at the high temperature level cleverly works to condense CO2 refrigerant gas emitted from the low temperature stage. A specialized condensation evaporator acts as a bridge connecting these two stages, functioning doubly as the condenser in the low temperature level and the evaporator in the high temperature level.
Within this intricate system, the heat load is transferred via the end evaporator to the CO2 refrigerant. This absorbed heat is then moved to the high-temperature NH3 refrigerant through the condensing evaporator. The high-temperature NH3 refrigerant gracefully dispels this heat into the atmosphere via a high-temperature condenser, aided by a cooling medium. Post-condensation in the evaporator, CO2 proceeds to a reservoir, advancing through a dryer filter and throttle valve before entering a gas-liquid separator. A CO2 circulation pump channels liquid CO2 to the CO2 evaporator, where, absent end cooling devices like single freezers or chillers, it returns in a two-phase state to the separator. The gaseous CO2 is subsequently drawn by the compressor back into the condensing evaporator, perpetuating this elegant cycle.
In the NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system, each temperature level operates as an independent refrigeration system with a single refrigerant. The equipment is meticulously segmented: the high-temperature NH3 system mirrors conventional systems, housing a refrigeration compressor alongside a condenser, liquid storage, gas-liquid separator, and throttling device. Meanwhile, the low temperature CO2 system comprises a CO2 compressor, condensing evaporator, reservoir, gas-liquid separator, filter dryer, pump, throttling device, evaporator, and an expansion vessel, showcasing a comprehensive and effective setup.
The The CO2 gas-liquid separator serves a vital role in isolating CO2 gas droplets from the evaporator within the CO2 compression refrigeration system. This prevents compressor wet stroke and ensures stable liquid levels during pump operation. Moreover, it safely stores end equipment and pipeline liquids upon pump cessation. When used as a CO2 reservoir during inactivity, it must accommodate all system CO2 liquid. An auxiliary evaporator atop the separator efficiently prevents excessive CO2 pressure post-shutdown. In the NH3/CO2 cascade system, the condensing evaporator acts dually as both an NH3-side evaporator and a CO2-side condenser, promoting heat absorption and CO2 gas liquefaction.
