1. NH3/CO2: The Ingenious Principle of Cascade Refrigeration Systems
NH3/CO2: The cascade refrigeration marvel is ingeniously structured into two distinct stages - high temperature and low temperature. The high temperature stage employs NH3 as the refrigerant, while CO2 is the chosen refrigerant for the low temperature stage. The evaporation of NH3 at the high-temperature level ingeniously manages to condense the CO2 gas emitted from the low-temperature level. A remarkable condensation evaporator bridges these two stages, serving dually as the condenser for the low-temperature level and the evaporator for the high-temperature level.

In this sophisticated system, heat is effortlessly transferred to the CO2 refrigerant through the end evaporator, and the CO2's absorbed heat is then seamlessly passed on to the high-temperature NH3 refrigerant. The NH3 refrigerant majestically transfers this heat to the high-temperature condenser, ultimately releasing it into the environment via a cooling medium. As the CO2 condenses in the condensing evaporator, it flows into the CO2 reservoir, then journeys through the dryer filter and throttle valve into the CO2 gas-liquid separator. With elegance, liquid CO2 is delivered to the CO2 evaporator by a circulation pump, thereafter, the two-phase CO2 regresses to the gas-liquid separator, while gaseous CO2 is reabsorbed by the compressor and compressed back into the condensing evaporator. This sophisticated process perpetuates to complete the entire cascade refrigeration cycle.

NH3/CO2: In the cascade refrigeration system, each temperature level operates independently using a single refrigerant. The equipment composition divides into two sections: the high-temperature NH3 system mirrors conventional refrigeration systems, featuring not only a refrigeration compressor but also a condenser, liquid storage, gas-liquid separator, and a throttling device. The low-temperature CO2 system boasts a CO2 compressor, condensing evaporator, reservoir, gas-liquid separator, filter dryer, pump, throttling device, evaporator, and an expansion vessel.
The The CO2 gas-liquid separator is a meticulously designed component that efficiently segregates CO2 gas droplets from the evaporator in the CO2 compression refrigeration system. This prevents compressor wet strokes, stabilizes liquid levels during pump operation, and stores equipment and pipeline liquid returns when the pump halts. As a reservoir, it efficiently holds all CO2 liquid in the system during non-operational periods. An auxiliary evaporator strategically placed atop the separator adeptly prevents excessive CO2 pressure post-shutdown. In NH3/CO2 systems, the condensing evaporator performs dual functions, acting as the NH3 side's evaporator and the CO2 side's condenser, inducing compound liquid evaporation and heat absorption within the tube, while CO2 gas condenses into liquid within the shell.

(1.(1)) The NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system significantly diminishes the condensing pressure of the NH3 charge to approximately one-tenth that of traditional ammonia systems.
(1.(2)) NH3 is confined to the machine and equipment rooms—akin to a 'tiger' in a 'cage', under the watchful care of skilled professionals.
(1.(3)) This system maximizes NH3's superior heat transfer capabilities within high-temperature zones, efficiently cooling CO2.
(2) CO2 as a Safe Medium: CO2 integration allows for safely introducing the medium into areas with high personnel activity, such as single-freezing machines and warehouses, ensuring the protection of both individuals and property.
