Within the NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system, this innovative design comprises two integral stages: the high temperature stage, utilizing NH3 as the refrigerant, and the low temperature stage, using CO2. The NH3 refrigerant evaporates at the high-temperature level to efficiently condense the CO2 refrigerant gas emitted from the low-temperature stage. An integrated condensation evaporator acts as a vital conduit, linking both temperature levels. This dual-purpose device serves as the condenser for the low-temperature stage and the evaporator for the high-temperature level, ensuring seamless and efficient operation.
In this innovative system, the heat load is expertly transferred to the CO2 refrigerant through the end evaporator. The absorbed heat is then conveyed to the high-temperature NH3 refrigerant via the condensing evaporator. The NH3 refrigerant subsequently transfers the heat to a high-temperature condenser, releasing it into the environment using a cooling medium. Condensed CO2 in the evaporator is directed into the CO2 reservoir, proceeding to the CO2 gas-liquid separator through a dryer filter and throttle valve. The CO2 circulation pump sends the liquid CO2 to the evaporator, initiating a refined cycle with no end cooling device, like a single freezer or chiller. Post-evaporation, a two-phase CO2 returns to the gas-liquid separator, where the gaseous CO2 is compressed into the condensing evaporator by the compressor, perpetuating the entire cascade refrigeration cycle.
Within the NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system, the high and low temperature levels function as independent refrigeration systems, each utilizing a single refrigerant. The high-temperature NH3 system mirrors a conventional refrigeration setup, encompassing a refrigerant compressor, along with a condenser, liquid storage, gas-liquid separator, and throttling device. Meanwhile, the low-temperature CO2 system is equipped with a CO2 compressor, condensing evaporator, reservoir, gas-liquid separator, filter dryer, pump, throttling device, evaporator, and expansion vessel, exemplifying a comprehensive and efficient cooling mechanism.
The The CO2 gas-liquid separator ingeniously separates CO2 gas droplets from the evaporator in the CO2 compression refrigeration system. This prevents the compressor's wet stroke, ensures a stable liquid level during pump operation, and effectively stores any liquid returns from end equipment and pipelines when the pump ceases operation. Should the gas-liquid separator function as a CO2 reservoir during inaction, its volume must accommodate all system CO2 liquid. An auxiliary evaporator atop the separator ensures CO2 pressure remains controlled post-shutdown. In the NH3/CO2 cascade system, the condensing evaporator serves as both the NH3 side evaporator and the CO2 side condenser. Here, complex liquids evaporate, absorbing heat within the tube, while CO2 gas transforms into liquid within the shell.
