In the innovative NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system, a harmonious synergy between the high and low temperature stages is achieved. The high temperature stage ingeniously utilizes NH3 as its refrigerant, while the low temperature stage employs CO2. This dynamic duo operates seamlessly, where NH3's evaporation in the high temperature system skillfully condenses the CO2 refrigerant from the low temperature system. A sophisticated condensation evaporator artistically bridges these two stages, functioning both as a condenser for CO2 at low temperatures and as an evaporator for NH3 at high temperatures.
Within this cutting-edge cascade system, the heat load is effectively transferred to the CO2 refrigerant through the end evaporator. The CO2 refrigerant, after absorbing heat, passes it to the high-temperature NH3 refrigerant through the condensing evaporator. The NH3 then channels this heat to a high-temperature condenser, where it is gracefully released into the environment, facilitated by a cooling medium. The CO2, now condensed, is directed to a reservoir, subsequently entering a gas-liquid separator. There, after passing through a dryer filter and throttle valve, the liquid CO2 is propelled to the evaporator via a circulation pump. Post-evaporation, the two-phase CO2 returns to the gas-liquid separator, while the gaseous CO2 is compressed again, perpetuating this elegant cycle of refrigeration.

The high-temperature NH3 system mirrors traditional refrigeration setups, encompassing a refrigeration compressor, condenser, liquid storage, gas-liquid separator, and throttling device. The low-temperature CO2 system, on the other hand, is equipped with a CO2 compressor, condensing evaporator, reservoir, gas-liquid separator, filter dryer, pump, throttling device, evaporator, and expansion vessel, making it a comprehensive and efficient refrigeration solution.

This meticulous separation is crucial to prevent compressor wet strokes, ensure stable liquid levels during pump operation, and manage liquid return when the pump halts. When used as a CO2 reservoir during downtime, its capacity must accommodate the full system's CO2 liquid volume. Additionally, an auxiliary evaporator is strategically positioned atop the separator to prevent excessive CO2 pressure post-shutdown. In the NH3/CO2 cascade system, the condensing evaporator remarkably serves as both an NH3 side evaporator and a CO2 side condenser, facilitating a flawless heat exchange where the liquid compound evaporates and CO2 gas transforms into liquid within the shell.
