1. The Principle of NH3/CO2 Cascade Refrigeration System
The NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system is ingeniously designed, consisting of two distinctive stages: the high temperature stage and the low temperature stage. The high temperature stage adeptly employs NH3 as the refrigerant, while the low temperature stage utilizes CO2. The clever mechanism involves the evaporation of NH3 in the high temperature level system to effectively condense the CO2 refrigerant gas from the low temperature level. Connecting these two stages is a sophisticated condensation evaporator, which serves as both the condenser for the low temperature stage and the evaporator for the high temperature stage.

In this advanced system, the heat load is seamlessly transferred to the CO2 refrigerant via the end evaporator. The absorbed heat by the CO2 is then transported to the high-temperature NH3 refrigerant through the condensing evaporator, where it is further conveyed to the high-temperature condenser to release into the environment via the cooling medium. The condensed CO2 finds its way into the CO2 reservoir and progresses to the CO2 gas-liquid separator through a meticulous path involving a dryer filter and throttle valve. Post journey through the CO2 circulation pump, the liquid CO2 is propelled to the CO2 evaporator, and in the absence of an end cooling device, it returns to the gas-liquid separator post-evaporation. Here, the gaseous CO2 is skillfully compressed by the compressor back into the condensing evaporator, perpetuating the cascade refrigeration cycle.

The NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system ingeniously utilizes single refrigerant systems at both high and low temperature levels. The high-temperature NH3 refrigeration system mirrors conventional systems by incorporating not just the refrigeration compressor, but also a well-structured assembly of condenser, liquid storage, gas-liquid separator, and throttling device. Meanwhile, the low-temperature CO2 refrigeration system comprises a CO2 compressor, condensing evaporator, reservoir, gas-liquid separator, filter dryer, pump, throttling device, evaporator, and an expansion vessel, all working harmoniously.
The The CO2 gas-liquid separator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the CO2 compression refrigeration system. It effectively separates CO2 gas droplets from the evaporator, preventing wet strokes of the compressor, maintaining a stable liquid level during pump operations, and storing the end equipment and pipeline liquid return when the pump halts. As a reservoir during non-operation, its capacity is designed to hold the entire CO2 liquid in the system. Additionally, an auxiliary evaporator is strategically positioned atop the gas-liquid separator to preemptively avert high CO2 pressure post-shutdown. Within this NH3/CO2 cascade system, the condensing evaporator serves dually as the NH3 side evaporator and the CO2 side condenser, facilitating the evaporation and heat absorption of compound liquid within the tube and the condensation of CO2 gas into liquid within the shell.

2. Advantages of the NH3/CO2 Cascade Refrigeration System

(1.(2)) NH3 usage is confined to the machine room and equipment room, akin to a 'tiger' securely 'caged' and monitored by skilled professionals.
(1.(3)) It maximizes the excellent heat transfer properties of NH3 in high-temperature regions for effective cooling of CO2.
(2) CO2 serves safely as a medium in personnel-dense operation areas, such as single-freezing machines and warehouses, ensuring the utmost safety for people and assets.
