1. Ammonia is the most cost-effective refrigerant available, second only to air and water.
2. It boasts a low standard boiling temperature and maintains moderate pressure within both the condenser and evaporator.
3. Its large refrigeration capacity per unit volume minimizes refrigerant circulation requirements for each unit of cooling capacity. Ammonia also offers superior thermal conductivity and a high latent heat of vaporization.
4. Experience low throttling loss coupled with high operational efficiency.
5. It operates at low pressures, necessitating simpler machinery and reducing material costs for refrigeration systems.
6. The pungent odor of ammonia is easily detectable, even in minimal concentrations, using smell, leak test paper, or test drugs. Human senses can distinguish ammonia when the air contains as little as 50mg/m3.
7. Ammonia doesn't dissolve in mineral oil and can be easily separated from oil at low temperatures. Its lower density compared to oil ensures that refrigeration oil sinks below the ammonia liquid, facilitating easy oil return to the system.
8. Ammonia's thermodynamic and chemical properties remain stable at both room and low temperatures.
9. Its Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) is zero, and its Global Warming Potential (GWP) is also zero.
