The NH3/CO2 Cascade Refrigeration System ingeniously combines two distinct stages: a high-temperature stage employing NH3 as the refrigerant and a low-temperature stage utilizing CO2. The brilliance of this system lies in its ability to use the evaporative cooling of NH3 in the high-temperature system to condense the CO2 refrigerant gas from the low-temperature system. This is achieved through a sophisticated condensation evaporator that seamlessly interlinks the high and low-temperature layers, serving a dual purpose as both the low-temperature condenser and the high-temperature evaporator.
In our advanced system, thermal energy is meticulously transferred to the CO2 refrigerant via the terminal evaporator. Subsequently, the heat absorbed by the CO2 is passed onto the NH3 refrigerant through the condensing evaporator. This NH3 refrigerant then releases the accumulated heat to the environment via a high-temperature condenser. The subsequent steps involve the cooled CO2 entering the CO2 reservoir, followed by a journey through the dryer filter and throttle valve to the CO2 gas-liquid separator. A CO2 circulation pump efficiently propels the liquid CO2 to the evaporator, completing a revolutionary cycle that excels in thermal management without end-cooling devices like single freezers. Post-evaporation, the CO2 transitions back to the gas-liquid separator, where it is compressed and reintroduced into this groundbreaking cycle.

An auxiliary evaporator atop the separator safeguards against excessive pressures post-shutdown. In this cascade system, the condensing evaporator performs dual roles: acting as an NH3 evaporator and a CO2 condenser, facilitating seamless heat absorption and condensation processes.
