1. NH3/CO2: The Principle of Cascade Refrigeration System
NH3/CO2: The cascade refrigeration system is an innovative design comprising two vital stages: the high-temperature stage, employing NH3 as the refrigerant, and the low-temperature stage, utilizing CO2. In this system, NH3 evaporates at the high-temperature level, effectively condensing the CO2 gas from the low-temperature level. This synergy is achieved through a condensation evaporator, which serves the dual role of condensing CO2 from the low-temperature level and evaporating NH3 from the high-temperature level, creating a seamless heat transfer between the two stages.
The heat load is meticulously transferred to the CO2 refrigerant through the end evaporator. The CO2 refrigerant, after absorbing heat, transfers it to the high-temperature NH3 refrigerant via the condensing evaporator. The high-temperature NH3 refrigerant then expels this heat to the high-temperature condenser and ultimately releases it to the surrounding environment through the cooling medium. Condensed CO2 in the condensing evaporator flows into the CO2 reservoir, proceeding through a dryer filter and throttle valve into the CO2 gas-liquid separator. The liquid CO2 is directed to the CO2 evaporator by the CO2 circulation pump. Post-evaporation, the two-phase CO2 returns to the gas-liquid separator, where the gaseous CO2 is compressed into the condensing evaporator by the compressor, perpetuating the cycle of efficient cascade refrigeration.
NH3/CO2: Within the cascade refrigeration system, distinct high and low-temperature stages utilize single refrigerants. The high-temperature NH3 system mirrors conventional refrigeration setups, including a refrigeration compressor, condenser, liquid storage, gas-liquid separator, and throttling device. The low-temperature CO2 system, alongside the CO2 compressor, integrates a condensing evaporator, reservoir, gas-liquid separator, filter dryer, pump, throttling device, evaporator, and expansion vessel, epitomizing comprehensive and advanced refrigeration technology.
The CO2 Gas-Liquid Separator is integral to the CO2 compression refrigeration system, ensuring separation of CO2 gas droplets from the evaporator to prevent compressor wet stroke, stabilize pump operation, and store returning pipeline liquid when the pump halts. When inactive, the separator doubles as a CO2 reservoir, accommodating the system's entire CO2 liquid volume. An auxiliary evaporator atop the separator mitigates excessive CO2 pressure post-shutdown. In the NH3/CO2 cascade system, the condensing evaporator functions dually as the NH3-side evaporator and the CO2-side condenser, efficiently managing heat transfer and condensation processes.
