The NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system is a marvel of engineering, ingeniously split into two dynamic stages: the high-temperature stage, powered by NH3 as the refrigerant, and the low-temperature stage, utilizing CO2. The system operates seamlessly as NH3 evaporates in the high-temperature stage, masterfully condensing CO2 gas from the low-temperature stage. This is achieved through a unique condensation evaporator that serves a dual purpose: it's both the condenser for the low-temperature stage and the evaporator for the high-temperature stage.
In this cutting-edge system, heat is efficiently transferred to the CO2 refrigerant through the end evaporator. The absorbed heat in the CO2 refrigerant is then deftly transferred to the high-temperature NH3 refrigerant via the condensing evaporator. The NH3 refrigerant subsequently disperses this heat to the high-temperature condenser, releasing it to the atmosphere through a cooling medium. The cycle continues as condensed CO2 enters the CO2 reservoir, moving through a dryer filter and throttle valve to the CO2 gas-liquid separator. Liquid CO2 is propelled to the CO2 evaporator by the CO2 circulation pump (operating without an end cooling device such as a single freezer or chiller). Post-evaporation, the two-phase CO2 returns to the gas-liquid separator, with gaseous CO2 being compressed back into the condensing evaporator by the compressor, thus perpetuating the efficient cascade refrigeration cycle.

In the NH3/CO2 cascade system, the condensing evaporator acts dually as an evaporator on the NH3 side and a condenser on the CO2 side, where compound liquid evaporation and heat absorption occur in the tube, while CO2 gas condenses into liquid in the shell.
